Have you noticed the huge wave of AI, and perhaps mindless AI adoption is shifting?
Have we all been a little ‘under the spell’ of AI and its potential?
As with any new technology, some early adopters jump in straight away while others stand back and wait and watch before adopting.
Then over time, once the initial novelty or wonder has subsided, we begin to see it for what it is: a tool.
Or is it simply taking the time to think it through and reflect on whether the tool is aligned with what you are about, your values, and your purpose?
This appears to be what LinkedIn has done. Have they taken the time to assess whether their AI “enhance your post” tool is actually meeting the needs of their users and aligning with their intentions and values?
LinkedIn’s values are :
I’ll distil these into: Member-led, Trust, Truth, United, and Inclusive.
Therefore, can we use these as a filter to assess whether allowing AI-generated content on LinkedIn passes their own values test?
Trust, Truth, and Inclusion stand out to me as difficult to achieve through AI-generated content.
The following article from Dynamic Business shares how LinkedIn are doing just that. LinkedIn is reviewing and changing its approach from providing its AI “enhance your post” tool to a proofreading tool. The difference is support to improve grammar without changing your voice.
People are seeking real, authentic and human content and interactions.
A couple of weeks ago, Success Community members on our online Mastermind calls were also expressing how much more important opportunities to connect human to human are now. Discussed in this blog post: https://www.askfleur.com/ai-tools-vs-human-connection
This has reminded me to revisit my own purpose and values in business:
To use my Creativity to Inspire and Empower others, fostering a Connected community grounded in the present moment.
And to review how I use AI in my own business.
While my intention has always been to write my own content and use AI as an editor, on occasion, when pressed for time, I may have had more AI content included than I originally intended.
I already had a plan to review my blog post content to refresh past posts, but this is elevating it to a higher priority. I will review the content in my business, especially my blog posts, and update and improve it. This includes removing any AI-generated content to ensure my own consistent and authentic voice is maintained.
While the spoken word comes more naturally to me, to support my writing, I have resubscribed to Grammarly for grammar checking rather than only using an AI tool as an editor, which on occasion oversteps this role into content creation.
Have you had the experience where the AI tool behaves like a toddler; it can’t help itself and creates its own version? Therefore changing your voice.
Just today, I had to remind Claude to use my actual logo for a templated document and not create its own version of the logo!
And, when asking for a review of content on a webpage, it basically made up an answer rather than actually checking it. Or is that more like a teenager! I called it out, saying that was not true or accurate when it admitted what it had done. Sheesh!
In a recent study found 50% of articles published on the internet are AI-generated, matching those written by humans. In addition, they shared, “We do not evaluate whether AI-generated articles get as much traffic as human-written articles, but we suspect that they do not.”
Therefore, my takeaway is that human interactions and content are becoming even more significant and valuable.
