[Gratitude post 21] The Joy of Connection
There’s a particular kind of magic that happens when people come together with generosity, curiosity, and a genuine desire to see each other succeed. Over the years, in both long-standing relationships and new introductions, I’ve learned that connection isn’t just a “nice to have” in business. It’s the lifeblood of every meaningful achievement.
Over the past few weeks, as I’ve launched a new business networking group in Victoria Park, meeting fortnightly at 7 am on Fridays, I’m truly grateful. Grateful for the people who’ve been in my business world for years, who’ve backed me, collaborated with me, and walked beside me through many seasons. And equally grateful to those I’ve only just met, who’ve stepped into this new space with openness and enthusiasm.
There’s something humbling about watching a room of people, some seasoned, some brand new, lean into conversation at an hour when most of Perth is still waking up. The energy is different at 7 am. And there’s a shared understanding that we’re all here because connection matters.
What I love most is seeing how quickly trust can grow when the environment is intentionally supportive. No tall-poppy culture. No pressure to perform. Just a group of people in business showing up as themselves, sharing ideas, celebrating wins, and offering a hand when someone needs it.
Connection can be simple. But its impact is anything but.
It’s in the quiet nods of recognition.
The “I’ve been there too.”
The “What do you need?”
The “Let me introduce you to someone.”
As a coach, a fundraiser, and a lifelong community-builder, these moments remind me why I do what I do. They’re the heartbeat of every thriving business and the foundation of every great collaboration.
So today’s gratitude goes to the people, old friends and new, who are helping shape this next chapter. Thank you for showing up so early, for contributing so generously, and for reminding me that even in a fast-paced world, human connection will always be our greatest catalyst for success.
Here’s to the joy of connection.
Here’s to building something vibrant together.
And here’s to many more 7 am Fridays in Victoria Park, where the coffee is hot, the conversations are meaningful, and the community is growing beautifully.
